Poinsettia hobbyists can propagate the plant through shoot cuttings. Cuttings should be 8 cm in length with a stem diameter of 0.5 cm and taken in the morning to maintain freshness.

Afterward, place the cuttings in a humidity-controlled propagation room to prevent wilting. Within 14-18 days, the roots of the poinsettia cuttings will emerge. After the roots emerge, the poinsettia plant can be planted using a porous planting medium.

The growing medium should be watered twice a day or adjusted to the humidity of the plant. This is important to reduce the salt content in the growing medium, which poinsettia plants cannot tolerate. A 20:20:20 or 20:10:20 compound NPK fertilizer can be used for poinsettia plants, and it can be combined with slow-release fertilizers.

poinsettia plantThe optimal temperature range for poinsettia plant growth is between 18°C at night and 23-24°C during the day. If the temperature falls below 18°C, the soil moisture increases, making the plants vulnerable to root rot and stem rot. These diseases can stunt the growth and flowering of the plant. On the other hand, temperatures above 24°C can inhibit flower bud formation.
