The Arfak Tribe of West Papua uses a medicinal herb called akway wood (Drymis sp). The akway wood works similarly to the drug viagra in enhancing male sexual drive and boosting stamina. Researchers M. Syakir and colleagues identified three distinct types of akway wood: the white akway (Drymis winterii), the great red (Drymis piperita), and the little red (Drymis beccariana). Their findings were published in the Journal of Industrial Plant Research, Volume 17, No. 4, in 2011.
