Among the largest freshwater fish species is Arapaima gigas. On December 9, 2015, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta, displayed an ancient fish from the Amazon River basin that had previously been in its collection. A damaged spine caused the pirarucu to die on 3 July 2017, when its body weight reached 55 kg along 156 cm.
