The health benefits of avocado seeds have been studied, including their potential as an antidiabetic and liver protecting agent. Ade Zuhrotun’s research from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Padjadjaran University in 2007 (unpublished) revealed that Persea americana seeds contain various compounds, such as polyphenols, tannins, flavonoids, triterpenoids, quinones, monoterpenoids, and sesquiterpenoids, that have hypoglycemic effects, lowering blood sugar levels.

Research conducted on white rats using ethanol extract from avocado seeds showed a reduction in blood sugar levels by 22-40%, depending on the dose.

Additionally, a study conducted by Phebe Hendra from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta demonstrated that avocado seeds given to white rat test animals were able to reduce the activity values of alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase, indicating potential benefits for liver health. Both enzymes increase in number when liver damage occurs.

Herbalists have long prescribed avocado seed water to help treat liver cirrhosis. To make the water, mix one tablespoon of avocado seed powder with a glass of hot water. Consume twice a day.
