Mushroom farmers and baglog manufacturers require a ring to cover the top of the growing medium. The ring on the baglog prevents contaminants from entering and maintains oxygen in the baglog, both of which affect growth. Once the spores have spread throughout the baglog, the ring can be removed and used for another baglog.
