Alfalfa plants are advantageous phytogenic and contain nutrients. Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) which in Spanish translates to “father of all food”, is now processed into feed for ruminants including cows, goats, and horses. Because it can release energy gradually, alfalfa with a high protein content and certain naturally occurring vitamins and minerals are made into pellets.
