Nutmeg flowers or known as nutmeg fuli, are valuable export items. One of the regions in Indonesia for the production of nutmeg flowers is the West Halmahera Regency in North Maluku. The region is known for producing high quality nutmeg flowers with distinctive reddish-orange bloom colors. The nutmeg flower is processed to create an essential oil that is sold as the oil of mace. Nutmeg blossoms are also used as food flavorings and pharmaceutical ingredients.
