Growing Media for Anthurium

According to hobbyist experience, the optimal growing medium for anthuriums is a mixture of ferns, poor sand, and raw husks in a 1:1:1 ratio. It is important to mix the ingredients until they are homogeneous before filling the anthurium plant pots. When planting the anthurium, ensure that the medium covers the roots and stem of the plant by passing the lip of the pot.

Finally, place the anthurium in a shaded location or under a net that allows for 65-70% sunlight intensity. If the light intensity is low, it can affect the growth of the plant’s leaf stalks, causing them to become longer and resulting in a less dense leaf arrangement.

To ensure even distribution of leaf growth in all directions for members of the Araceae family, direct the young shoots towards the sun. This method increases the chances of even leaf growth and minimizes sparse leaves.

It should be noted that the size of the new leaves may be larger than that of the old leaves. To address this issue, apply liquid organic fertilizer every two weeks at a dose of one bottle cap diluted with 1.5-2 liters of water. Pour the solution into the potting media.
