Root crops of the porang (Amorphophallus muelleri) are endemic. Araceae family members with traits resembling suweg (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius) are dispersed over Java Island, which is located 900 m above sea level. Malang Regency in East Java is a porang center. In 8 districts of Malang Regency, plant tubers containing glucomannan compounds were planted.
